The Issues

My priorities

If elected, my top priority is fiscal responsiblity and accountablity. The citizens of Greeley intrust the city council to spend tax dollars wisely and to use tax dollars to benefit all citizens. I will make sure that we set a reasonable budget and stick to it. I also believe the council is elected to spend tax dollars on city projects, however, large one time projects such as Catalyst should go to the voters.

Catalyst

The Catalyst project is an ambitious endevor, and the funding mechanisms don't pencil out to me. The project will definitely enhance Greeley in Northern Colorado and bring in outside tax revenue, but the numbers that need to be met to pay for it seem unatainable. If that happens, the city will be on the hook to supplement the difference, and other city projects and priorities will then be cut. We cannot afford to use tax dollars on one project and let others slip by the wayside.

Public Safety

Public safety is the cornerstone to a safe and vibrant city. Our citizens should feel safe visiting all parts of Greeley; our schools should be safe havens for our children; and our local businesses should operate without fear of criminal activity. Greeley has the greatest police force and fire department anywhere, and we need to make sure they have all the tools and personnel they need.

A safe city is also the spring board to new businesses coming to town to enhance our tax base. Public works falls under public safety as well, and maintained roads, properly timed lights and a solid infrasturcture are vital to keeping our citizens safe as they travel our city.
